About the QNUK Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment (RQF)

This is an approved qualification for the CSCS Green Operative Card and is suitable for those working, or seeking to work, in the construction industry.

This course includes essential health & safety information and guidance for working safely in construction. It covers types of PPE, how to work safely with hazardous chemicals, as well as other key topics. It will also provide you with a good basic understanding of relevant UK laws and legislation as well as different work-related illnesses and injuries.

By the end of the course, you will be better able to assess and identify on-site hazards, evaluate workplace safety, manage the risks associated with carrying out tasks such as working at height and keep yourself and others safe

About the CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Exam for Operatives

The CITB HS&E exam for Operatives is one of the required elements to obtain a CSCS Green Operative Card. The exam ensures workers have the required level of health, safety and environmental awareness before going on site.

The exam is taken in person at any Pearson Vue test centre.

Unit 1: Know the principles of risk assessment for maintaining and improving health and safety at work.

Unit 2: Know the importance of safe manual handling in the workplace.

Unit 3: Know the importance of working safely at height in the workplace

Unit 4: Know risks to health within a construction environment.

Unit 5: Know the importance of working around plant and equipment safely

You should first complete all the learning for the 5 units of the course and exam your knowledge using the practice tests.

When you are ready you will be booked in for the 45 question multiple choice test.  You will have 70 minutes to complete this and will need to get at least 36 correct to pass.

The test will be remotely invigilated so you must have a  laptop or computer with a webcam and microphone to be able to do it.

You must be at least 18 years old before you can be registered on this qualification.

A basic level of literacy and the equivalent to a level 1 proficiency in the English language is also required.

Once you have completed and submitted the exam assessment it will be marked by an exams officer. 

Successful candidates will receive their certificates via email. 

We aim to provide certificates within 24 hours* for all submissions received Monday to Friday.

You will be given a voucher code which can be used to book the test over the telephone at a Pearson Vue test centre of your choice.
